Welcome, Azrichter, get yourself anything from a vintage K10D to a 645Z, whatever your credit card allows!

Pentax from Sony

My first DSLR was a Sony A-200. I loved it and got great results with some wonderful Minolta AF lenses.

The IS failed, a couple of lenses also...and the subsequent used Alphas I purchased used didn't last well or had issues. A friend had a K-50 and when I peered through that bright optical viewfinder, I knew I was interested in trying a Pentax DSLR.

I'm currently looking for a K-5II for starters...seems to be a rock solid camera and there are quite a few out there.

The K-5 II is a very fine camera. I have the K-5 IIs and am very fond of it. It is a step up from the K-50 in its pro-style build quality and full set of on-body controls. When you get your camera, you will find much to explore that is useful, like the exclusive fast and efficient-operating Pentax Hyper System. (which unfortunately, manuals these days don't make very clear) Do you have a particular lens in mind? Welcome to Pentaxland!

not sure if you have found your dream camera yet or not

I went from a *st dl to the K 5 II and liked it a lot, I've moved on since then

if you are looking for an older camera body like the K 5 II be sure to check out the market place " buy/sell " above to see what might be for sale by a member

I have had very good luck buying " experienced " equipment from members to this forum

I had a K-30 which had the same sweet sensor. But if you crop a lot the 24mp sensor in the K-3 is even better. There are plenty of affordable used K-3 models out there too. They have similarly rugged build to the K-5 series, but better AF, better metering and some extra features. The K-5 series cameras also won't work with the DA 55-300 PLM, which is the fastest-focusing lens Pentax has ever made.
