Hello from Alabama

Hi everyone, my name is Matt. I bought my first dslr about 6 months ago (k10d) and was hooked. I found this site rather quickly researching how to fix the back focusing problem with my camera, and since then returned almost daily to look at reviews of lenses and cameras. It is nice to see a forum so friendly and helpful, looking forward to being a part of the pentax community.

Welcome! My first DSLR was a K10 about a decade ago. I put a split-focus screen in it and it was quite good with manual lenses. I sold it, but probably shouldn't have.

Have fun with the hobby!

My wife would say I don't need any help... but I'm eyeing the 31 and 77 limited.

you mentioned " limiteds " I believe

the limiteds do they live up to the reputation and why - Page 10 - PentaxForums.com

BTW, since you live in the US, there is the option of renting equipment to do your own experimenting before buying anything

I have used LensRental.com and there is Borrowlenses.com

there may be others as well

Thanks for the rental idea, I have not thought of that.

I don't know if I would get any of the pixie dust out, but I'd like to try. Also good to see a fellow Alabamian in here.

Well if you came across any Woodhams or Buckleys down there I'm probably related.
