Doc 1954

Hi all I have just bought a Pentax K1 with DR A 24/70 F 2.8 lense with a view to doing a lot more landscape photography.I have upgraded from an entry level Canon having threatened to treat myself to an upgrade for years (still feeling a bit guilty but I will get over it)

Due to the weather I have not managed to get out and about with it yet but when I do I am sure I will be requiring advice as I am a bit of a technophobe.

Thanks in advance (hopefully)

Cheers Doc

This is a great place to ask technical questions. Be open to trying what is suggested and pay close attention to the questions asked back of you if you have a problem. The diagnostic questions are usually very specific and while people will be friendly and try to help you no matter what - if you can answer their questions with details it will resolve your problems that much faster. "I don't know" is a valid response sometimes also.

And...

WELCOME!

The best thing to do is just get out there. Practice is the only way you'll get experience. Even standing in the yard or parking lot of a park will let you get the feel for your equipment.

I like TAv mode when outside. Adjust the aperture to a good spot for the lens - f8 for example. Then adjust shutter speed to keep your exposure in good shape.

Remember, with sensors like these it's safer to slightly underexpose than overexpose.
