Hello all!!!

Hello, I am joining this forum because I have been researching DSLR's for about 7 months trying to decide what I want to get. I currently shoot primarily with a Canon Powershot S5,which is a nice point and shoot. I can see its uses even after I get my DSLR. I also have a Pentax k1000 with 50mm 1.4 lens and a Promaster 2500PK Super with a 50mm 1.7 lens.

I am in college and enrolled in Basic photography this semester, which is why I bought the Pentax and Promaster.

After much research I realize that I really like the Pentax lenses and the reviews they get, so I have decided on the Pentax "system". I am here to read the user reviews, inputs, likes and dislikes about the various Pentax bodies. I don't want to spend more than $500 for the body. I realize that takes me into the used body category and that's okay with me. I would rather invest in glass and upgrade body later.

I look forward to making some new friends and learning all I can about Pentax bodies and lenses. Oh, I plan to make this purchase by the time I graduate, which is spring of next year. Of course if I found that great deal I would move sooner.

Welcome, you will find plenty of help here. There have been a lot of rumours flying around about a lower priced Pentax coming out. If it happens, it should happen either before the holidays or maybe next spring.
In the meantime, have fun with your K1000, it's a great camera.
