I have read la lot on this forum over the years and finally decided to sign up. I have always been a Pentaxian going back as far as '81 with my first camera, a venerable k1000. After moving to Switzerland in 1999 it became apparent that my poor old Pentax had seen too much use and needed replacing so an MZ-7 became my travelling companion in the Alps. Upon my return to Canada, the digital craze had really taken hold but minimal funds, the lack of a decent Pentax SLR, and ad the need to shoot digital to capture the lives of my young family saw my decline into depravity - a few years of point and shoots. 2009 I read about the K-7 and was enamoured, this became my first DSLR which served me well until late last year when I replaced it with a K3-II .

Anyway, I am glad to be here and look forward to participating in this community.

Welcome to Pentax forums. I too had/have a K-1000 and now have a K-3II, along with a K-5IIS.

Welcome to Pentax Forums, CharLac.

Your camera path seems similar to mine. I started with an Olympus OM-10, went through several decent Canon point-and-shoots, and migrated to a K-7. Now I use a K-3 II.

Look forward to seeing your pictures of the Ottawa area!

Thanks for the replies. For those of you with the K3II I don't have to tell you how much I love this camera. It's basically my wonderful K7 with a far better sensor and a few new controls to make it even more user friendly. I am sooo happy they moved the Liveview button. My nose used to enable it all the time...soo annoying.
