Hello Again

Hi everyone. I'm back here on the Pentax Forums.

I was signed up years ago. But at some point my account disappeared, due to a long period of inactivity on this website I guess. So I had to sign up again.

I've been using mostly Pentax since I started with my Super Program back in the mid 80s. Had a K10D for years that I no longer have. Just getting by with my little MX-1 for now.

Would like a new Pentax DSLR. The K70 is nice, but not sure about it long term. The KP is better, mostly. The K1 is awesome, but has a few issues and is kinda pricey.

Will Ricoh grace us something really good in the future? I sure hope so. But it seems like any new Pentax gear requires a loooong patient wait.

Attached a recent photo using the MX-1. (And a little photoshopping)

Welcome back to the forum Doug. Can you remember your original user name? We may be able to merge the two profiles.
Use the Mod Contact Form if you can remember the details, or PM me.

Kind regards,

Thanks. K1 is a great camera. Just wish they'd done more than a barely there refresh after 2yrs. My biggest dislike is the funky rear articulated screen. I would have much preferred a K-70 or KP style rear display. With the saved extra engineering $ spent on newer, bigger sensor, faster autofocus, better video, you know, stuff all the other guys are getting better and better at. While Pentax seems to keep lagging behind. So often feels like one step forward, one half step back.

Welcome back!

I also had a Super Program - in fact, I still use in on occasion, sharing lenses with my K-30; the "A" 50mm f/1.7 kitted with it has finally stiffened up when focusing. My current thought is to get a KP because it suits my style and my modern AF lenses.

BTW - I like the image you attached. Where did you take it?

Took the photo at the Union Pacific yard in Cheyenne, WY. They have an open house one weekend a year where you can go look at some of their old still operating steam locomotives and other old train cars.

It used to be a lot better, you could go inside all the cars and wander all over the place. But now it's much more limited and roped off. Liability concerns I suppose.
