Hello from Switzerland

Hello Pentaxians!

Finally registring on pentaxforum after simply being a follower for many years.

I debuted in photography with a Sony compact that served me well during my studies, trips and early work as a Geologist. Of course I'd often lament at the lack of reactivity and uselessness of it in low light.
Then while working in the Niger desert I fell in love with the sky, and at the same time thought it would be awesome for my line of work to have a GPS enhanced camera that would display the position and orientation of pictures taken. So I started looking, and I was nearly seduced by Sony, first by the HXV9V, then A99 but also tempted by the then brand new NEX's small footprint. I had even purchased an E-mount T2 ring for the scope I got then... in the meanwhile acquired a Samsung Galaxy Note so casual and georeferenced photography was covered...

And then I heard of Pentax and of the O-GPS1. It took me a while and a lot of research but in the end I acquired a K-5 iis together with the 18-135mm, O-GPS1 and an official M42 adapter during our honeymoon in Japan, got more than 3k shots in a week! Loved it. Of course I did not get the chance to use it in the African desert...

Kids have since arrived in sequence, and I don't take it out at every outing due to its bulk, maybe I should just buy a decent harness... but not sure I'd be convenient while carrying a baby in my arms

A lot were of her, and she even took a few of me. That was mostly on auto mode, but while we were in front of the Golden Pavillion, a japanese gentleman showed me with signs some nice compositions and the merits of the Av mode.

I did fiddle a little since with Av, TAv and manual, but not much, mostly while playing with old manual lenses I had found in my relative's stuff.

Welcome from Chicago!

I geotag images in the field, it makes organizing wildlife photos much easier.
