Hello to all members of Pentaxforums!
I'm Jan and I've been long time lurker here, mostly reading reviews and information about different lenses and cameras, then also troubleshooting problems related to Pentax system because it often ranks high in Google on the topic.
I've been Canon user at heart, at first with cheap and simple compacts (I started with this
dead simple box), then at 2013 I got myself proper DSLR, Canon 650D. Interestingly, not long after that I started to rediscover film and play with now affordable models which I would never been able to afford before (or was too young to notice). The obvious choice was to use the EOS film bodies, starting with the first Canon 650 from 1987. Later when I wanted to go beyond the convenient EOS system I searched for compact SLR with big and bright viewfinder which finally brought me to Pentax M series around 2014. I bought ME Super with the classic SMC M 50mm f/1.7 and I've been fan ever since
For me it sits at nearly the perfect balance between old and modern, convenient and manual, electronic and mechanical. Numerous time it surprised me how well it's usable in today's age, almost 30 years after it was intoduced.
Folowing that is a series of GAS attacks for Pentax lenses and more bodies. Recently I was tempted to try the earlier KX and see what's the admiration all about. Luckily I received working camera, which sadly isn't the norm with my auction purchases. However it wasn't perfect, the aperture window was half clouded, so hard to see the correct number, seals were gummy as usual and during my repair attempt I finished breaking screw holding the counter which I suspect was already weakened by previous disassembly. Despite that I managed to fix the aperture window, replace at least the easily accessible light seals, and use M3 washer as spacer-holder instead of the counter retaining screw. See the gallery:

Besides my enjoyment of (mostly Pentax) film cameras and lenses, I have now also simple bathroom-darkroom for B&W processing, I continue to use my digital Canon system, from time to time I shoot 4K video on Panasonic FZ1000, and use my phone for quick snaps. I'm truly a hybrid shooter who enjoys all aspects of technology
I hope to also share some of my photos when I get to scanning my films...
