Greetings everyone!

I'm a beginner photographer (within 6 months) from South Texas who started learning how to take pictures on some old 35mm film cameras my parents had laying around. While I do enjoy film and am glad I started on a medium that forced me to think before I shot, the cost of buying and developing film has made me want to go to digital. I've actually been eyeing some of the older K-5's and K-30's floating around on this forum, so hopefully one of those will be my first digital camera.

As far as my interests go, I enjoy mechanical keyboards (topre is just rubber dome), discovering new music (Sennheiser 558's w/ a UMC 202HD pre-amp), and playing video games (currently Persona 4 using PCSX2). I also enjoy working with computers and routers, and hope to work on L2/L3 switching/routing once I finish up my Bachelors. Will probably work for a Cisco-based environment, but I don't believe I'll be opposed to Juniper if things happen to swing that way .

Welcome. Be sure to ask questions on the forum as you make your decision about going digital. You will get good advice. You can also pick up good deals on used items from the Marketplace.

Welcome fellow TEXAN lots of great people on here with lots of great information available. I don't know What Your budget is But for first digital I would recommend a used body as they are a lot like computers, something new every couple of years, them something bigger and better. If at all possible invest in the BEST lenses You can afford. They are what actually "SEE" the image the camera just records it. Yes higher resolution sensors record more and do a better job of recording that image, "But garbage in, Garbage out" Well not quite that bad , but good lenses far outlast camera bodies these days Do a lot of research before You choose a system, But I don't think You will go wrong if You go Pentax.
