Greetings From South Carolina, US!

Hi, all.

Long time lurker but only joined up a little while back. Great to be here!

I started as a kid with my dad's Leica M3. A wonderfully polished piece of kit, all the way around.

When I started playing with photography more in earnest in the 2000s, I took a analytical, systems-oriented approach to make my decision about which brand of camera I would go with. Upon looking at the available systems, only Pentax did not have one or more breaks in its continuity of interchangeability with lenses. You mean I can still use every lens made since the M42 days? Why, don't mind if I do, thanks...And I take full advantage of this, with old Super Tacs, Soligor C/Ds and the like...

So, I picked up the inevitable K1000...since then, I have owned any number of Spotmatics, MEs, ME Supers, P3s, on and on and on...I have still never found a camera I liked any better than the K1000 for manual focus work.

My first DSLR was about the closest thing you could get to a K1000...A *ist DS. Love that camera. Still have it and I plan on still having one a long time from now. Aside from the limited resolution and the no-video thing, it is still a lovely thing...

About two years ago, I picked up a lightly used K-5...Another lovely beast of a camera.

Now, I drool over K-1 II articles, and wonder if I should hold out for the prices to come down on the K-1 or just punt and go with the K-3 II...

And tonights project: fabricating an adapter to hook up the back of a Tair-33 MF (Kiev 88 thread) lens to a K-mount...So far so good.

In any case, thanks for having me!

I'm just up the road in Charlotte. Glad to have you join us. If you ever want to meet up and look at some of my gear I'm happy to let you. I do not have a K-1, but I do have a K-3 I can show you.

Welcome to the forum. Guess you know all about us already. The K-3ii is a fine camera, and so is the K-1. No guarantee that prices will come down much on these 2, however, IMHO.
