Deep in the sticks, East East Midlands UK

Hi,

What a great site. I've just rekindled my interest in photography - after a long gap - and wish I'd found it earlier.

It's great to be onboard.

Hi from Dorset - and welcome! - you're right - it's a great site - sometimes silly, sometimes argumentative, but help about all things photographic is always there for the asking from knowledgeable people as well as it being a great place to pick up tips and ideas just by reading conversations, or getting pictures critiqued or just shared.

HI,

I've been taking bad photographs for years. My son, who's rather good, prompted me to get back into it. Until recently I had an old ME Super languishishing in the back of a cupboard and a compact Ricoh that was fine in bright daylight, but not much else. Great for a pocket, shots at gigs and on holidays, but not much else. I suspect my mobile (cell phone) has, zoom aside, pretty similar optical qualities.

My son got me 'playing' with a Fuji X-1e (and let me touch one of his 45 MP Nikons ). The short story is I bought a Sony A6000, dusted off the ME Super (no film inserted into that yet) and have been enjoying myself . I've gone 'back to basics' in many areas and it's helping. I'm never going to be a great photographer, but I'm seeing things on walks I never saw before and lookingat things differently and that is always a good thing.

Thanks for the lovely welcome people

Welcome to the forums. Took a daytrip to Boston once.
I also love how photography makes you look at the world differently.
