Help! Advice on Super Wide Angle Lens for K-30

Hello dear Pentax fellows:
I recently joined the FORUMS and I want to ask you questions.
Which super wide angle lens you recommend for my Pentax K-30? I used to take panorama pictures using Sigma 10-20mm F4.5-5.6 for Sony E. I sold it along with my Sony a6300 due to lack of variangle display.
I would appreciate your advice. I want to take pictures of a beautiful Japan Northern Alps landscape.

You can probably find the same lens you used to have in K mount. I have one and it is quite good. I don't think they are available new but should be readily available used.

The DA 15 Limited is one of the best lenses available for Pentax. Legendary flare resistance for bright light, good color and contrast, starbursts.

If you would rather have the versatility of zoom, I have a Tamron 10-24 for sale in the marketplace.

I like that same Sigma but in the 3.5 version. Great lens. There's a comparison of the two here on the forums.

I don't understand your "variangle display" issue - but I have that same Sigma in K-mount, and I am very positive about it. Today you would have to get it used or purchase the f/3.5 version.

DA15mm Ltd. For landscape, it is genuine outstanding.

An interesting lens is the DA10-17mm: fisheye at 10 mm, wide at 17mm.

I have both, and I have uses for both. But the DA15mm is simply the most outstanding and most used.

The DA15mm is not as wide as the 10-20, obviously. It's also not really any sharper. It is legendary for flare resistance. If you like the sun in the frame, that is an addictive lens. We have a huge thread full of examples from this lens. here:The 15mm Limited controls my mind - club - PentaxForums.com

It's not a "technically great" lens. The corners are a bit soft until f8, but there is really something about it. When I take out the 15, my shots are just better.

You can get the Sigma 10-20 in either version, I also have the Sigma 8-16 which is sometimes available, though not super common. The Tamron 10-24 is also available, though the comparison tests show that lens is not quite as good as the other choices, it's a great value and still a decent lens.

As suggested, the 10-17 fisheye is another choice. Not super fishy at the 17mm end, and still very very wide at that end. The 10mm end has a 180° view. Amazing.

If you loved the Sigma 10-20, you should be able to find a K-mount copy. The Sigma 8-16 is also very impressive.

But if you want to be a good Pentaxian, the DA15 Limited and DA21 Limited would be my suggestions. Both have beautiful colour rendition, remarkable flare resistance and the older SMC versions produce magical star patterns from point light sources. And they're tiny.

The DA12-24 is also highly regarded.

And don't forget you can always stitch multiple images if you want an even wider panorama.

Like others, DA 15 F4 Limited is highly recommended; it has good flare-resistance and low distortion. I shoot with this lens a lot when I want to go wide.
If you prefer a zoom lens, DA 12-24mm F4 is also a good option.
In the past, I also owned Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6; it was sharp stopped-down, but I did not like its colour rendition.

I own the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6. It's a pretty decent lens that accepts screw-on filters. I would say that its main weakness is that in the 10-12mm range, the corner performance is mediocre enough to bother me, though certainly usable if you're careful. I think for landscapes, 13-14mm is pretty good on an APS-C, and then this lens does a pretty good job. I don't own the DA15 but I'm guessing that would be a bit sharper.

If you can wait a little, the DA*11-18/2.8 should be here soon.
I expect it to be so good that you would regret spending money on anything less.

Thank you for your information. I should wait for that new lens.
