Hi Community
My name is Richard and I like to introduce myself, since I am new to the Pentax family.
I am 48 year old Swiss wedding photographer who runs his own little Studio, 50km east of Zurich. I owned many cameras from all sort of brands, hence I couldnt care less about a particular brand. Yet I was stuck to Canon for most of my career. A few years ago, I sold all of it. My switch over to Nikon was because i needed a change and the lightweight of the 1.8 Series lenses. That was 3 years ago. I still got all the Nikon stuff which I use mainly on weddings. But neither Canon or Nikon, both excellent cameras who never failed me, could satisfy me entirely. They are the right tools for getting the job done, but nothing more than that. Therefore I ventured into the Rangefinder Leica M7 and analog Medium Format Cameras from Hasselblad and Mamiya. I loved all of them, but Film nowadays is really expensive and since I hardly ever used them on payed jobs, I left them behind most of the time.
So I checked the market for a digital Hasselblad H3d or even H4d. I was very close on buying one, but the high priced lenses always put me off. I also didnt want to invest in a Sensor which is over 10 years old and so finally decided to focus on the Pentax 645z. I have to admit that I do think most of my cameras are sexy
And the Pentax 645z is ugly.... Sorry if I hurt any hardcore Pentax user out there.
But also a girl which is build like a tank can give you lots of pleasure isnt it...okay I better stop here....haha
So to buy the 645z, i had to get rid of all my analog gear and pay 500Euro on top. But yesterday I took it out for a little test at the local Zoo and I immediately knew that I made the right choice!
I am very happy and while I still use my Nikons for most of the time, I love my fat, ugly baby
