Hi and welcome from an ex Kiwi resident in Melbourne.
Regarding wide angle lens, I use and recommend the Pentax 12-24mm, a favourite on this forum. I loved using the Sigma 10-20mm 3.5 version untill it fell out of my jacket pocket into the surf at the Gibson Steps at the 12 apostles! (It still hurts to remember that tragedy)
If you can save your Kiwi dollars the soon to be released da11-18mm will no doubt be a winner.

Welcome

be prepared to get a lot of opinions

it's been my experience that members of the forum love to " advise " others on how to spend their money !!!

My widest lens is only 15mm:

SMC Pentax-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited

so I don't have an opinion except to check the Market Place and see what might be available to you

[ we were on a cruise that went down the west side of the South Island, around and up on the east to the capital in '11, had a great time it looked like you are living in a great area of the world ]

Welcome to Pentax Forums. If 16 at the wide end is enough for you, I would recommend the Pentax 16-85 zoom. I have one and it provides excellent images.

Hi Alexander, and welcome! We were on the west coast of the South Island in March this year, stopping off at Ship Creek (without a paddle!)

Welcome to the Forums. I don't shoot much wide angle so others will have better advice than me.
