So I am rather new to advanced photography. I always pushed my point and shoot to the outer limits and just recently got the funds to get an SLR. I did go for a canon because I am brand loyal to them due to my previous luck with their equipment. I was looking around and I started getting curious about older lenses. This led me to the M42 mount lenses especially the Super Takumar Lens line. That is mainly what got me into this forum to start with. I recently got a Super Takumar 135mm 3.5 from eBay which has impressed the heck out of me so far. The price was a steal and I really enjoy having that control in my hands instead of electronically coupled like they are with most of the newer STM and USM lenses. It definitely makes me think more before I take a picture which I enjoy. So far I have only had the opportunity to make a few shots with it during optimal daylight. I did manage to get a bit in to figure out how to properly expose flash with a chipped adapter. Full manual flash seems to be the key a point which should be obvious to any advanced photographer but me being new external flashes too me quite a bit to get right. I love the look of the lens and the way it renders color. I can't wait to find even more of these vintage lenses. I may even consider investing in Pentax equipment in the future as it seems to get pretty awesome results. Right now I am sticking with my 800D as its all I have. Anyways nice to see there are others that have good things to say about these lenses. Great to have a resource to help in my purchases.
