Hello from Ottawa!

Hello everyone!

Iíve been a Pentax user since the K20D and a long time occasional reader of this site. I will also become a dad in a couple of months and Iím desperately trying to convince myself that the continuous AF on my K-3 II is good enough to follow a running toddler around. My Limited primes have been of little help in that department with my niece and nephew, but I understand screw driven lenses are not ideal for that. Iím currently looking for a lens that will help me not jump ship (or acquire a second system) for as long as possible. Maybe Iíll find help here!

Welcome and congratulations on the big upcoming event!

I am sure that the K-3 II will be just fine. If the AF can't keep up, you can always try MF. That's (probably, I don't know how old you are) how your father took pictures of you. At any rate, your grandfather definitely had MF only, and he managed...

Welcome to the forum, you have plenty of time to practise, the wee ones don't start speeding around immediately.

Practice, practice, practice. I've chased rock stars across the stage with my K-3 - I'm sure you can keep up with a toddler.
For what it's worth, the tracking AF on the KP is a considerable improvement on the K-3.
