K10D Landscape

Hi folks,

I just wanted to introduce myself and post a recent K10D image.

I am a landscape photographer based in County Derry in Northern Ireland. I have been using Pentax equipment for the last 10 years and am now primarily using the K10D with DA14mm, DA21mm, FA28mm and FA50mm lenses. This shot was taken with my old sigma 70-300mm.

Welcome to the forum. Ireland is a beautiful country and I'm looking foward to seeing more of your landscapes, especially seeing how great the first one is!

Welcome Andy and thanks for joining us.

I like this shot a lot. Works very well in B&W.

I do hope to see some color shots of that famous Irish green landscapes, though I see from your gallery that you spend a lot of time where the sea and land meet.

hello and nice to meet you!
what great landscapes you have!
Ireland is one of the countries I always wanted to go to.... have some roots there in our family tree.

is using a ND over the sky more effective then doing it with photoshop?

keep them coming... they are all stunning

cheers

Thanks for that randy. My own preference is to go with the ND filters. Blended or HDR exposures are no good to me because I do a lot of my work near moving water. I find post-process alone from a single exposure can never balance the exposure to the same extent as using the filter. Exposing for the sky and bringing the land up in post-process always results in noisy / dull foreground. I also like the idea of coming home with something that really just only needs a slight curves tweak before publishing.
