F Lenses On K-70

New to Forum. I just bought a K-70 and I want to use the lenses from the SF-1 I have and they don't focus automatically. No memory card installed. I liked backpacking years ago with my ME Super and an array of lenses. Need to learn the K-70.

Thanks,

Eyetookem

they should work just fine!! edit~misread yer post any k mount will function fine

~the only AF lens I have had any 'problems' with is a power zoom on the K-50 which does support the zoom function but no problems on k-3ii or k-1

and a f 35-135 gets hung up but I believe it has a broken gear and makes no difference in regards to body its mounted on

I have the F 50/1.7, F 35-70, and F 70-210 and they all AF just fine on my K-70. Make sure the contacts of lenses and camera are clean.

Are you trying to say that the old lenses you have are all manual-focus?

In that case, watch this:

It would help if you said what lenses exactly. Your title says "F lenses on K-70". To me that means the Pentax F series of lenses which do focus automatically and should work fine on the k-70.

So do you mean you have F series lenses that are not working or that you have lenses that are not auto focus and likely not F series?

If your lenses have the 'A' setting on the aperture ring make sure the aperture ring is in that position and everything should work properly. If you want to use the aperture ring in stead of the 'A' setting then there is a menu setting you need to change, I believe it is called "Use aperture ring" or something similar but as long as you have lenses with an 'A' setting and use that you do not need the menu change.

I cleaned the contact pins. Also, when I look through the viewfinder I see a flashing "F--"

should lock into place setting into the 'a' position typically after the highest f stop

Thanks,

Flashing 'F' simply means the camera does not see the lens. In almost all cases this is due to using an older lens that either does not have an 'A' setting or a lens with the 'A' setting but not using that setting.

Again, please tell us exactly what lenses you are talking about. At this point we are only guessing.

Welcome to the Forums. Sounds like you got sorted out. That is what this place is all about. There is always someone who knows what the tricks are - and what the newbies often overlook! At 72 you may be one of the young ones here but with Pentax you have chosen well.

Both of those should work fine on your K-70. I actually have both of those and they are quite good lenses still. The 50mm macro is still considered one of the best macro lenses Pentax ever made. On your k-70 the 28-80 will be a short telephoto and will not have the wider field of view you saw on your SF-1.

Please make sure that the aperture ring on both is set to the 'A' position and they should work just like a modern lens. If you have any issues just post and I am sure someone can help.
