Greetings from Nevada

New on here, but not new to photography and cameras. I'm getting back into film and building up my 35 mm collection. I'll be looking at medium format and large format eventually.

Steve

Howdy Steve, welcome to PF.
Which part of Nevada do you hale from?

I was raised in Northern Nevada, SunValley, just north of Reno/Sparks.
Though I have not lived in Nevada since the 1980s, I still think of myself as a Nevadan.
I still visit Northern Nevada several times a year, on ski trips and visiting Family & Friends.

Nevada has many beautiful landscapes to photograph.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

Moe49, I am in Reno. Not too far from Sun Valley. I've been here for 20 years now. We live at the base of Peavine.

I rented a house in NW Reno in the late '70s (Heights Dr. just off 7th St.). That was the edge of town then (no McCarren loop or the houses/stores beyond), so it was very easy to jump on my Motocross bike and ride up Peavine or over to Verdi.

I bought my very 1st Pentax (a K1000) at the shopping mall that used to be at S.Virginia and Plumb Ln.
It was either the Sears or the Montgomery Wards, I don't remember which store now.

While growing up in Sun Valley in the '60s, we lived on the side of Red Hill (4th Ave & Chocolate Dr.), and spent every Winter Break sledding down that hill to the Fire Station on Sun Valley Blvd.
I would not be surprised if Red Hill had been named after our Hound Dog 'Red'. I mean, Pattie Lane was named after my younger sister, so who knows?

Got your 'Tahoe Local Pass' ready to go for the upcoming ski season ?
Got mine.

Welcome to the Forum.

Digital is great but film is still priceless.

Thank you all for the welcome.

Moe49, Reno has changed since you were here in the 90s. A lot of Sun Valley now looks like a dump site. Abandoned cars on many streets and in yards, meth labs and unsavory individuals. We go over to clean up parks and schools there sometimes. It's sad.
