Son of a pentax family

As far as I know, since film-era, my family always owed Pentax gears.
I wasn't really interested in photography until I was gifted an Optio 50L at 10, and shot some pictures with it. Almost all were bad, some of them were above average.

Everything kind of changed when I moved to Japan for 6 months. I got an (old) K-7 from my father, the stock DA 18-55 and some SMC-era lens, namely the FA 28-80 and FA 70-200.
I shot with this kit for a while, and took a liking to photography as a whole. I traveled several time, borrowed a 18-250 Tamron that eventually made me buy the 18-300 from Sigma plus a wide angle lens and give back the SMC lens.

I'm still new to the field, and having never used Canon of Nikon gears my PoV is kind of narrowed to Pentax. I have some experience with Sony Alpha line.

I own (or have owned) :
  • Optio 50L (in a closet somewhere)
  • Pentax K-7 (passed on to another family member)
  • Pentax K-1 Mark II (current)
Current kit :

FA 50mm F1.4
Sigma DC 10-20mm F3.5
Sigma DC 18-300mm F3.5 Macro C

The 10-20mm is APS-C usable in FF at 20mm with variable vignetting, same for the zoom, usable in FF at 280-300mm. This kit is compact and light (around 2.5kg including the K-1), I'm looking at the 24-70/70-200 new lens but that some weight and money I'm still not ready for.

Other lens I have played with :

DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6
FA 70-200mm F4-5.6
SMC Pentax-F 28-80mm F3.5-4.5
Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II LD

Hope I'll have the time to contribute some lens reviews.

Happy to answer questions !

Here's a nice one I made a few days ago, trying to get the astrostracer to work.

I have a K-1 and a local seller has this lens listed for $100, how bad is the vignetting on this lens? Would it be worth it to pickup for landscape shots?

Thanks!

Since then I acquired a couple of additions:

Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX APO DG : second-hand, heavy but nicely built, good for events and occasional sunset pictures
DFA 24-70mm F2.8 ED SDM WR : a bit on the heavy side but sealed and very luminous, so it's my go-to for rainy days
DFA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR : for macros, also very light and waterproof
HD Pentax-DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter : offered to me as a gift, plays nice with the 70-200mm F2.8 above for an extra reach to 280mm or with with the 100mm macro to reach 140mm

So far I'm pretty happy with this kit, I usually go out with 2 to 4 lenses based on location and weather.
