Hi All,
I just decided (finally) to join the forum after looking at some of the reviews and finding how helpful the info on old cameras can be. I shot film with an MX and a Ricoh XR-2s in university (last century, when those cameras were almost new......). I then shot Nikon for many years until I decided their prices were getting out of reach for me. At that point a D800 turned into a K1, which has since been upgraded to Mark 2 status and remains one of my favourite cameras ever. I have at various times shot with a K50 and still own a Ricoh GR - the original version of the APS-C one. Recently I got back into film, which I develop and scan at home (black and white only) as we are quite a way from any processing labs. This has caused me to re-acquire and again fall in love with a Pentax MX and a Ricoh XR-2s. There are also a Spotmatic, K1000, Ricoh SLX500, a couple of Prakticas, a Nikon FE and F100, too many lenses to count, and a bunch of (mostly worthless, but fun) old point and shoot film cameras in the camera cupboard. The actual total is a closely guarded secret, but as I tell my wife and any friends who ask "Why??", at least I don't spend any money on booze or gambling!
As the GR is also a favourite, I might just have a try at winning a new one this month!
Cheers.
AH
PS: The attached photo shows Henry, who has become a frequent test subject, as the texture of his fur shows off lens sharpness even better than a brick wall. He does, however, have a bit of an attitude as you can see......
