Getting K-1 with 28-105mm?

I am looking at purchasing the K1. Is the kit lens 28-105 worth it or should what would be another good walk around lens?

Welcome to PentaxForums, lunaperson. The 28-105 is well worth it. Many people prefer it to the more expensive and also highly regarded D FA 24-70. The 28-105 goes very well with the K-1 and K-1ii.

The 28-105mm is a great lens, but whether or not it's right for you will depend on your shooting style and goals. What lenses do you have currently and how do you plan to use the camera?

The DFA 28-105 is a fantastic kit lens for the K-1. Despite owning a lot of premium glass, it remains one of my most-used lenses. For what it's worth, I also find the focal range to be useful on a crop body.

It is totally worth it

When I was shopping for my K1, I was loaned a K1 with the 28-105, and it was this combo that was one of the things that convinced me to buy a K1 in the first place. (As in “if the [U]kit[U] lens is this good...”)

If somehow you need further convincing, I've used the 28-105 on 3 of 3 commercial shoots this year and on other "you've only got one chance at this" shoots in the past. Welcome to the club

Welcome to the forum, can’t help with zoom advice as I only shoot primes and older ones at that.

I got my 28-105 yesterday and I'm already impressed. I don't think there are much better walkaround zooms out there.

Welcome to the forum. I use the K1 with the DFA 28-105. It is a great combination and I highly recommend it.

Agreed, the DFA 28-105mm is a great lens. I used it on my K-1 for about a year, before buying a DFA 24-70mm. Now I use it on my K20D, where I find if has a better IQ than the DA 18-135mm lens.

The DFA 28-105 provides a very useful range along with being weather resistant, compact, and great image quality.

Since I've gotten the K-1 I've been traying out a variety of lenses on it and for just a general walk around lens it's ideal for my style.

I think you'd be very happy having it.

I had one for a bit, on apsc however and the IQ was good but the focal length wasnt right for me. Should be really good on the K-1 though.

I'm happy with mine. It's a great all-rounder for travelling etc... It is the lightest/cheapest amongst the other zoom DFA lenses and it stands its ground pretty well between those.
