Absolutely blown away

Hello everyone, once again thanks for the warm welcome and the super support I'm getting. I was fortunate enough to spend 12 years on a wildlife reserve and took some amazing shots but sadly the majority of them were not very good. That makes me sad because I am no longer on the reserve and I feel I missed the opportunity to have these beautiful photo's as great memories. There were one or two that surprised me, so I would like to share one or two of them with you today.

The Cheetah called Ralie

Ralie was given to us by a very dear friend who has the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center. She heard we had two male Cheetah and was wanting to try to release a captive born Cheetah back into the wild to see how by doing so they could survive.

Great shots Shelly - what incredible subjects you have.
And while we are at it, welcome from the Pacific coast of Canada.

Hello all Pentaxians.

I'm looking forward to learning and gaining experience from you as I'm not experienced in any way or form and would love to show my photographs to you with the hope of some helpful critiques.I basically point try to focus and shoot.

Was given my camera many years ago when we were managing a game lodge, now retired I have brought it out again and would love to develop some skills.

Just a little nervous about the size of my photo's before loading - like 2.64MB so how do I resize them?
Welcome Shelly, make yourself at home. We have plenty of ways to participate. Enjoy!!

Hi aslyfox. Yes they are a great subject and my favourite cats too. Ralie was really very special, we used to walk in the bush for hours, while I tried to encourage to hunt.

Eish! Larrymc, Thanks for the compliment. However, trying to find my way around this platform is almost as hard as getting to grips with the Pentax manual. My youngest daughter say's some people can read instructions, others need practical. I feel really dumb at the moment....

The 6 MP K100D is a very capable camera and introduced in-camera shake reduction to the entry level cameras back in 2006. The shake reduction works with all lenses, new as well as old. The K100D shares most of its technical data with the *istDS2 but in order to be able to reduce its price Pentax removed TTL flash support and changed the viewfinder from a pentaprism with 95% magnification to a pentamirror with 85% magnification. As a consequence the viewfinder looks smaller and darker than the viewfinder of the *istDS2.

How many of us still own - and use - the old 6 megapixel DSLR bodies? For Pentax, this includes the *ist D series, and K100D series. Despite their age and technical limitations, I find their images quite nice, especially with vintage lenses. I love the CCD sensor rendering, and simplicity of these older models. If you're still using one of these relics, post your photos! Images from early 6 mpx models by other makers are welcome too!
