Introducing myself....

My name is Dave and I live in Southern CA. I'm a new owner of a 645D, wish I would have gotten the Z but that's what I have for now, mainly because of some vision limitations the Live View function on the Z would have been a life saver. If anyone knows of an external viewing device, i.e. iPhone or iPad I can connect to the camera and view the image for critical focus I would welcome some recommendations.

Anyway, glad to meet you all and looking forward to reading the wealth of information that is on this forum.

Dave

Welcome to Pentax Forums!

Pentax Image Transmitter software will enable a degree of tethering for the 645D. I don't think it allows full camera control and live view focussing though - you'd need the 645Z for that.

Hi Dave. Another welcome from Australia. I hope you can find something that gives you the viewing access that you need. If it exists, someone here will know about it.

I have successfully used the HDMI out port (type D) on my K-3 II to view what would otherwise be on the live view screen of the camera to show on my tv using a cable. The cable was HDMI type D (male) to regular HDMI (male). In the 645D manual the Mini HDMI Type C out port is mentioned for output to AV.

Thank you C_Jones, so you are able to see the live image before taking the photo with the HDMI output? This can be converted on an iPad so if that works that would be my answer there, wow. Can you confirm? Thank you.
