Welcome to the forum (and Pentax). The only snag is that you need the accessory shoe accessory... there were two Pentax meters that attach to the prism top via the eyepiece a round one and a square one.

This is my S1a with the square meter (which responds to light but is temperamental):

Welcome from the Canadian prairies.

My first good camera was an S1a, which I bought new for my job, at the time. I also bought a hand held, Sekonic light meter. Both meter and camera still work and I still have them. I bought them in Feb. 1968.

It's a decent light meter and does incident too. I don't think it will take a bashing but otherwise does a fair job

Welcome from New Zealand!

Hope you enjoy using some lovely Takumars on your S1a too! Although I have yet to use my Spotmatic (I do have a Pentax ME Super which has occasionally been used), I still enjoy using some Takumars occasionally on my K-1.

Thanks Jono, I have the 55/f2 already and a Carl Zeis Jena Tessar on the way. They'll get a good outing once I have sorted the lights seals, which are also on the way. I have another S1a (with meter) and an SPII coming too :-)

Oh dear, oh dear :-) I seem to have bought a few more Pentax cameras. To be fair they were cheap on Ebay and mostly faulty with sticky mirror issue. Cured that and all now work, just need light seals replaced.

I don't usually comment on the welcome threads, but I read "S1a" and decided I had to say hello. Welcome to the forum Nick!

Thanks Steve, are you a fan of the S1a? I like them because they are solid and simple, nothing much to go wrong and just do the job. Once I realised the stuck mirror was such a simple fix, I was happy to buy faulty ones at a cheaper price.
