I have an S1a with stuck mirror. Could you explain what I need do to fix it? Thanks.

First buy a set of JIS screwdrivers, although the screws are slotted these drivers have a very thin blade which will properly fit the screws on the base plate. You will also need some thin oil like watchmakers oil, available on ebay cheaply. Take off the base plate, there should be a small plastic spacer on the bottom of the rewind button that falls off easily, so keep an eye on that. This video gives the instructions (it's an SV but is the same as the S1a). If you are lucky and the mirror only sticks every so often just a tiny drop ( I mean tiny) of oil on spindles and teeth of the two dark cogs will do the job, if not follow the video. It's very common on this series of cameras.

This is the video

Hope that helps
Nick

Thanks, won't be too long before I get out shooting. Just need to renew the light seals and it'll be ready, has been a delay as life has got in the way a little.

Have also just joined the UK S1a gang.

How did you get on with the light seals?

I've had a bit of a cleanup and it looks like it needs some new ones.

I seem to have sorted the issue of the shutter screen/curtain not returning fully, but as I didn't actually add any new lubrication or anything I'm sure it'll rear its head again soon.
