Hi all,

I am a new member here. I have a few takumar lenses and there is a K1 on its way (hopefully) to my place

For my first post i just would like to ask opinions on how well the K1 focus confirmation works (or focus trap), comparing to the focusing on the LCD screen (which i may use only with a tripod) and comparing to the AF (with AF lenses - which i think i won't have any time soon). I mean, how reliable is it, when using manual lenses on it. Is it good enough?

From the lenses i have, i am hoping to select (as walk-around lenses) a 28mm (or a 35), a 50mm and a 105mm preset (or a 135mm, but this is a little heavy). Are these OK for the focus confirmation / focus trap of the K1 (even at their largest apertures)?

My photography range from pictures of my kid, to street and interiors and landscapes and nature. Macro, as well.

Welcome to PF.

You may want to post your questions in the K-1 sub-forum as it will probably get more responses from K-1/ii users.

Welcome to the forums. I have a few Takumars in my collection but sadly no K-1 to put them on. I agree with Not-a-Number that your questions about focus confirm on the K-1 may be better answered on the camera specific page. I'm sure the friendly folks there will be able to provide more assistance. Anyway, glad you are here and looking forward to more posts.

Welcome to the forum

you will find friendly members and knowledge here

[ especially on what lenses to consider ]

as for " macro " consider one of the 100mm Macro F2.8 family

F

FA

D FA ( non WR )

and the D FA WR

you can find user reviews under " lenses " above and the " in depth " review of the newest here:

Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 WR Macro Review
Introduction
The SMC Pentax-D FA Macro 100mm F2.8 WR is a fixed focal length macro lens which can focus down to life-size magnification (1:1), and which doubles as a versatile short-telephoto lens. It features a weather-sealed metal lens barrel and top-notch optical quality in a small and light package, and as such is designed much like a DA Limited series lens.

it is full of useful information:

Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 WR Macro Review
Specifications
The lens covers the full 24x36mm format, not just APS-C. The aperture blades are rounded, delivering a smoother bokeh which is important for a macro lens. However, unlike its predecessor, it has no aperture ring.

Rounded blades

The optical design is the tried-and-proven formula of the previous generation D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro lens, which in turn had inherited the optical design from the well-respected FA 100mm F2.8 and F 100mm F2.8 macro lenses introduced in 1991 and 1987, respectively. None of these earlier lenses had rounded aperture blades.
