Thanks for the advice, I had read about the SDM issues and was wondering how common it is?

I couldn't tell you what the failure rate is, sorry. Some say that the ones from about 2012/2013 have received newer SDM motors to help mitigate the failures. I would say just use it as frequently as possible and not worry about it. It's not terribly expensive or hard to convert to screw drive use, so I wouldn't let that sway you from purchasing one.
