Greeting and Salutations

Hello, I have found myself on occasion coming to this forum in search of information and decided to become a member.
I still own the first camera I ever bought, a Pentax Spotomatic that I used layaway to buy from the CCK air base exchange in 1969. It cost almost an entire months pay then and came with a 50mm f1.4 and a 135mm f3.5. I used it lightly for the following 4 decades, until the shutter began to get a bit slow and I made the swithch to digital. I am still disappointed that no one has developed a drop in cartridge with electronics, battery, and wireless, shaped like the film canister and film strip to give new life to all the fine film cameras out there.

I take a lot more more photos these days, and sometimes use my Takumar lenses. My biggest complaint about digital is the inconvenience of doing things manually, nothing beat the ease of using my Spotomatics light meter needle while adjusting my speed and aperture to control brightness and depth of field.

What brought me here today - I'm thinking now about picking up a Takumar 300 or 400 mm lens to use for bird photos, so thanks to all of you who have discussed these telephoto lenses on here!

What a fantastic idea! I for one would use that.

A big welcome to the forums from Australia.

Thank you everyone!
Digital canister - with new developments in thin film technologies and wireless, some enterprising engineer should start making these - the only thing that one would have make changeable is the ISO, but provide an app that talks to your phone to set that and retrieve pictures. No need to worry about focus, exposure, speed, any of that stuff - leave all that up to the photographer as Niepce and Daguerre intended! These days, they can stuff a lot of electronics in a cylinder the size of film canister, wish they would hurry up, I would get my Spotomatic serviced and start using it again.
