Student from Germany needs help...!!!

Hi Everyone,

some people know me, reporting stuff about Photokina. Some facts about myself. Currently doing Geological Science in Bochum Germany. Its fun, but not easy. Probably the whole life aint easy...

Now your help: I was lucky to get a photography course, starting on Tuesday at my University. Actually I wanted to get the new K200d on my B-Day next month, now I need it for next week.

I was planning to get the K200d + Tamron 17-50 2.8. The kit lens is only 50 Euro more, but Iam looking for better image quality.
Next month I would then get a DA 55-300mm.

16-50 * is to expensive for a student, and why get a 16-45 f4 if you can get a f 2.8

Iam very thankful for your thoughts.

greetz from Germany

Welcome Mathan,

I like your lens choice. Plenty of happy 17-50 owners on this forum. Look forward to seeing some of your photos

Hello Mathan and welcome!

Both lenses (16-45 & 17-50) are good choices. The 16-45 saves you ~$150 and is one stop slower. The 17-50 gets you f/2.8 (and closes the gap better between the 55-300 you're lusting for) but hits the wallet harder. So really the question you need to be answering is whether you need that extra stop of aperture and 5mm at the long end enough to justify the extra money. For me, it was; but there are plenty of very happy 16-45 owners.

Hope it has no Focusing problems...!!!

Great kit! I know yo will get a great deal of enjoyment out of the camera and lens combo. Don't let it get in the way of your studies. Good luck in your studies and your photography.
