Thanks again or all advice I have had a re-think about my post and think 200 yards was a tad ambitious I will revise that figure to 100 yards (only 50%out),. So will 70: 300 lens be ok ?

This might give you an idea. This is a shot of a red fox that I took a couple of days ago. The fox was at a dead wallaby just outside the back fence (I think an eagle may have killed the wallaby). It is a young fox and not very smart because I was no more than 25 yards away. I took this with a K-3 and DAL 55-300 (at 300mm). No cropping.
