Hello from Montreal !

Hello from Montreal !

Since it is customary to introduce oneself, here I am!

First and foremost, as I am not a native english speaker, I ask for your indulgence when it comes to my eventual answers on this forum.

I started to take an interest in photography at the beginning of the 70s. I am therefore at the dawn of my 60s and now have more time to participate actively to this forum.
When I was 15, I used my savings to get a Minolta XE7 (which was called XE5 in Europe, I think). I used this camera intensively for 30 years without even experiencing any major breaks, even in extreme temperatures present during Quebec's winters (-30°C).

The arrival of digital photography and the fact that Minolta pulled back from the market were two factors that drove me to Pentax. Since then, I have extensively used many Pentax cameras including the K20D, K-7, K-5 and K-3 models and I have always been very satisfied with my choices.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Erable means Maple I believe, as in "Sirop d'erable"
I only suspect this because I went Erables lake in Algonquin Park and it says o the park map Erable means maple.

Take out your K-7 and include a K-1 and your cameras are the same ones I used.

You are right ! Érable means Maple.

I am currently waiting for the new Pentax model to come out. I am probably going to buy it when it comes out.

Thanks for the welcome.

Bonjour d'Ottawa et bienvenue au Pentax Forum!

Welcome from one of your neighbours in Ottawa! Our son lives in Montréal (Verdun) since seven years, and we visit regularly.

Wow, you have a long history in photography. Using a camera for 30 years is remarkable.
