Hello from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada

Hi, I'm Parry, and although I use Nikon digital cameras (wait! I'm not one of those fanboys!), I've used a number of Pentax film cameras years ago. I've never used a Pentax digital camera, but recently I've started looking for one second-hand to use with the lenses I've got.

I have a couple of Pentax cameras: a Spotmatic 2 with 50 f1.4 and an ME Super with the 50 f2M. I sold off the other Pentax lenses I had, but I love the Tamron Adaptall system for its versatility with my Nikon and Canon FD cameras as well: 24, 135, 200, 200-500. I also had a 645 with the 75 and 150mm lenses when that system first came out, and have bought and sold other Pentax film bodies in the past.

Recently, I was considering buying a used Nikon FE2, but dusted off the ME Super instead. I had forgotten how big the finder is, and how easy to use it can be.

While researching some Adaptall lenses, I'm always directed to the excellent reviews here, and was prompted to join (brilliant use of the site cookies, by the way), and I'll be happy to contribute to some of those reviews and others. I know many here are die-hard Pentax users, and I do know how great they are, but I hope you won't mind the occasional Nikon or Canon FD comparison, as that's where I'm most familiar. They're all great cameras, but lenses are what are more important (and perhaps unfortunately, most of my lenses are for Nikon AF).

Thanks for inviting me to join!

Hey Parry, welcome from Regina. After Premier Moe allows us to to mingle again we should meet up for a Robin's.

That sounds like a good plan. Coffee and cameras mix well (figuratively, that is!)

I'm looking forward to it. I'm pretty sure we have met at some point. I was very active in the local photographic community through the 1980s to the mid 2000s until I moved on. I was mostly a lab guy, and after Kroma Kolor shut down I ended up working for various minilabs. I saw the writing on that wall and decided that it was time to find something else to do.
I spent some time as a stringer for Lifetouch when Scott was working for them, and also quite a bit of time with Kim, who I've known for more than 30 years over at the Pixel Factory.
There's a little name dropping test for you.
I still go to Don's for their yearly dog and pony show, though I found the last one very disappointing, the Ricoh/Pentax rep had absolutely nothing Pentax on display, he was pimping his Sigma stuff, which really left me with a quick look at what's new with Fuji, and nothing else of interest.
I still make all my major purchases from Don's, but I am really no longer active in the community.

My employer once flew me into Regina - for training in Saskatoon!
Apparently they were unaware that Saskatoon has an airport too.
I saw a little of your beautiful province driving there in the rental car...

Thanks for the welcome, Chris (and others). There's a lot of beauty in our province, but so many people just think there's nothing but grass, gophers and boring roads that run straight for 50 miles. Obviously, they've never been "up north."

Or southwest. My old stomping grounds include the dirt hills in and around Mossbank and the badlands in the Estevan area. Both are areas of beauty.
If nothing else, Regina is being a pretty safe place to ride out pandemics.......
