Trouble with off camera flash

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the flash fire when it is not attached to the camera hot shoe? Pentax K-1 Mark II with Pentax AF540FGZII flash. I applied all the settings in the flash manual, but could not get the flash to fire off camera. Thanks.

What are you using to trigger the flash off-camera?

you would need a wireless trigger or cable to do so......

You may be able to also trigger it with the pop up flash if that is an option (if that flash is capable, sorry, I don't have it)

Welcome to the forum BTW. It seems you need some way to trigger your flash as a slave, another flash on the camera, a cable or a wireless trigger.

You have to trigger it, Jay. There are extremely cheap radio triggers that will work fine for you in manual mode up to 1/200s.

Naturally, expect to pay more for P-TTL and HSS. Serious photography means serious prices.

Thanks everyone for all of your help. For some reason I thought the camera had a built-in wireless trigger that only worked with a Pentax flash. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Here's one solution: AF540FGZ II Auto Flash | Auto Flash | Accessories | Products | RICOH IMAGING

I use this: Cactus V6 II / IIs Wireless TTL HSS Flash Transceiver

But, there are other much cheaper options too.
