Hello from pyongyang

hello all,
I'm riza, an indonesian diplomat who live in pyongyang for almost two years now.

I bought my k200d on 15 september from a chinese e-store in the net and still learning about it. I was using fujifilm s6500fd before I felt the need of d-slr. During film era, I was using slr like canon A1, nikon f801, nikon f60.

The reason why I chose Pentax is because of my wife. Last May she bought me a sigma 75-300 with pentax mount at a fundraising fair in Pyongyang with a very good price. She thought that it would fit on my s6500fd. After that I started to look at Pentax along with other brand. I was considering nikon d80 and canon 450d at that time. After reading reviews and information on pentax cameras, I've decided to buy k200d. Since I live in North Korea, the closest place where I can buy it is in China. So I bought it with a help of a friend in China.

So for now I have the k200d, battery grip, kit lens and sigma 75-300. I've planned to buy 50mm lens, flash unit and maybe 18-250 as the travel lens.

Thanks for reading and I'm also glad to be part of the warm and friendly community of pentax users, here in pentaxforum.

regards,
riza

Welcome, risa. That's the first time I've ever seen an email from someone in N. Korea. Are you permitted to take pictures of the countryside and the people?

Those links were cool. It's always an eye opener and a world expander to get images from another world view. We can feel so much truth about how someone else sees the world just from the things they photograph and "how" they photograph them.
Peace,
Mikel.
