Hello, from an Aussie in Germany!

Well, this is a slightly belated hello. I'd joined and shared a few private messages with Adam but completely forgot to post a "hi" message.

Oops.

I'm not only new here on the forum, but also new to Pentax as well. Up until now I'd shot with only Nikons - apart from my beloved first camera (and fully manual) Olympus OM 1 which is unfairly gathering dust (figuratively speaking) back in Australia.

My friend (and forum member "Cmohr") has shot with Pentax for as long as I've known him and I've always been secretly impressed with the quality of his photos.
With more time on my hands with Corona, I'd decided to get myself my first (digital) full frame and Nikon seemed an obvious choice. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I wasn't able to find one for the price I was looking for, when Cmohr suggested Pentax. We'd both been out on many shoots and shared an interest in astrophotography, and of course the astrotracer (or should I say "ASTROTRACER") is a really cool feature that gave better results than I could achieve with my Nikons.

Looking into the prices here in Germany a couple of weeks back, it actually proved to be a real option -so I've taken the plunge and got myself the K1 II after a lot of YouTube videos and articles read!

It's early days but I'm more than happy. I got it with the 28-105 which is actually quite nice, given it's a kit lens and I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of the Pentax 15-30 2.8 which I've read great things about.

So, a new beginning, and a warm hello to all!

Had been living in the Sunshine State (Brissy) for the last 15 years prior to moving here to Germany.
Looking forward to getting back there again someday.

Welcome to the forum from a Spanish living, as well, in Germany!
The K-1 is amazing, and the 28-105 is much better than it has any right to be... I haven't used the 15-30 but I've seen photos so I assume you're in for a treat

Just to continue the Australian rounds, welcome from Hobart, Tasmania, where we’re currently glad of our marine border. I’ve enjoyed visiting Germany a few times, although the circumstances were a bit different from your current ones. Good to have you here.
