Gday everyone
Excellent site , I have been using a pentax for 28 years.I started off with a k1000 and now onto something a bit more modern. I just purchased a 300 mm lens and would love anybodys comments on how to improve,as I have just started digital .This photo was hand held at about 5 feet and seems clear enough???

Welcome to the forum! I am not the best one to critique - but it looks good to me! You may have noticed there is a place on the forum where you can post photos for comments.

Um - are there many Australians that look like this?

Seriously - what type of bird is it?

I have 2 African Greys and a Severe Macaw, but still a bit ignorant about the many types of birds!

The bird is a Galah and there are heaps down here.They live to a great old age just like your Macaw.Thanks I will put up for comment on other place.

Hey Peter,
The Galah (Cacatua roseicapilla) is sharp on the front but a bit soft on the back, working out the depth of focus on a new lens is always a learning curve. Have to say, the bokh on my new Pentax DA*16-50 is just gorgeous but I don't have anything like this shot of yours yet. Welcome.
