Hello from Ontario, Canada

I recently retired (Jan 2020) and purchased a 14 year old Pentax K100D (with only1,290 shutter count) in order to make use of some vintage lenses I was given. I saw a Youtube video about the Six Megapixel Club in this forum so hope to hang around there and post some images in the future.

Looking forward learning and interacting with people on the forum.

Description:

The 6 MP K100D is a very capable camera and introduced in-camera shake reduction to the entry level cameras back in 2006. The shake reduction works with all lenses, new as well as old. The K100D shares most of its technical data with the *istDS2 but in order to be able to reduce its price Pentax removed TTL flash support and changed the viewfinder from a pentaprism with 95% magnification to a pentamirror with 85% magnification. As a consequence the viewfinder looks smaller and darker than the viewfinder of the *istDS2.

How many of us still own - and use - the old 6 megapixel DSLR bodies? For Pentax, this includes the *ist D series, and K100D series. Despite their age and technical limitations, I find their images quite nice, especially with vintage lenses. I love the CCD sensor rendering, and simplicity of these older models. If you're still using one of these relics, post your photos! Images from early 6 mpx models by other makers are welcome too!

Both my kids were born in Smith's Falls, and I lived I Perth Ontario for 8 years. Small world. When I live there Smith's Fall was the murder capital of Canada. You couldn't go to a bar without at least 5 buddies... ah, the good old days. I worked for 18 months at the old Rideau Regional Hospital school, since closed, but most of the time commuted to Ottawa.

Thanks for the welcome Breakfastographer! Yeah, the guy I bought it from said it was too complicated for him so he didn't use it much. I'll post more pics soon.
