Newbie Pentax User

Hi everyone,

I'm new Pentax user from Italy (so, forgive my english...).

I approached photography at the age of 17 (20 years ago!) With a Minolta Dimage, then I altered Canon DSLR with Olympus but I found I couldn't give up the OVF and so I went back to Canon.
Then I came across a Pentax KP and bought it without thinking for a minute (here in Italy Pentax is being sold out, it has little market).

So I started collecting Pentax books and advertising material from the 70's and recently I got myself a ME Super with a nice Ilford HP500 and I'm literally enjoying it.
At the moment I use the KP with the lenses of the ME (28 2.8 and 50 1.7) in manual focus.

Now I'm using a Canon Apsc and the KP in parallel, which has at the moment appeased the desire for Canon Full Frame ... in fact I'm thinking of investing in a 20-40 limited.

Thanks for accepting me in the community!

Welcome from South Africa, Paolo. You'll find friendly, helpful members on here to answer any questions you may have. (Nothing wrong with your English; it's streets ahead of my Italian!) :-)
Best.

welcome to the forums

you will find friendly members and a lot of knowledge here

regarding the DA 20-40mm Limited

QuoteQuote:
Description:
The HD Pentax-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 Limited DC WR is the first zoom lens to join the Pentax lineup of ultra-compact "limited" lenses. This lens features a sleek all-metal barrel manufactured to very high standards.

This is also the first Limited series lens to feature silent DC autofocus as well as a weather-sealed design. Like the other HD Limited lenses, this lens features Pentax's latest lens coating promising less ghosting and flare.

As is standard for all premium Pentax lenses, this lens allows for full-time manual focus adjustments (Quick shift) and it is treated with Pentax's Super Protect coating to protect the front element from dust and scratches

The lens covers a wide-angle to normal focal length range, and is compatible with Pentax APS-C DSLRs. It will be available in both black and silver in December, 2013 for $999.

it is the only zoom Limited, but it can cause the same problem as any other

a desire to get more Limited lenses

and it is designed for with your digital camera ******

on the other hand, any of the 3 FA limiteds, 31mm, 43mm or 77mm, would work with both film and digital cameras:

Welcome!
Before you invest too heavily in lenses, I recommend you use the very good lenses you have and become familiar with all the options you have for creating images using only the settings and functions built in to the KP.

Welcome to the forum! The KP is a very capable camera with an amazing number of features. The 20-40 goes very well with it, but as robgski said above you can capture great pictures with your existing lenses. Enjoy it!
