Spring issues

Hello Pentax peeps.
After a few weeks as a Pentax owner (35mm), I've just been made aware of a little problem.
On my Pentax ME, the advance lever won't remain in the closed position.
It winds perfectly and doesn't have any other issues but is not held in a closed position. It's very easy just to pull it out a little and not spring back.
Just a little while ago, I read something from a guy that had the same problem:

'The shutter, though, seemed fine as did the electronics and meter display. I knew what this meant: the “click spring” had broken off inside. The purpose of this spring is to secure the wind-on lever close to the camera body to, firstly, switch off the meter and, secondly, prevent accidental partial wind-on.'

So firstly, how easy is it to find a replacement spring, and more importantly, how easy is it to replace?
Is it something I can do myself or do I need an expert?

The detent if I remember correctly is a bent hardened part, not fixed, without that part. The broken part can float around, and can create havoc , usually locking the counter. It can jam anytime or anything. Top cover removal is basic, LH cap screw on advance lever, r/w knob, removes rings and screws, lift off.

I should have said, when I was inspecting under the base plate, a piece of metal did drop out, the same shape as the one that guy I mentioned had:

"Pentax ME* – Full frame" Pentax ME* – Full frame

Sadly, I no longer have it.
