Nice to meet you as well. I lived in San Angelo for 4 years, which is just far enough from everything else to limit my trips to Austin, San Antonio, DFW, etc. I did learn to appreciate it, but the Blue Ridge Mountains surely beat the brown of the West Texas plains

Certain places make one work harder to see it. A few hours earlier or later at sunrise sunset, that scene would be more appealing. Maybe with some big thunderhead clouds rolling in, or spring time with blue bonnets along the tracks.

There aren’t bluebonnets in that part of TX but I liked the barren nature of the scene

Ah, Lubbock. A place name one can never forget. Or Shenandoah, for that matter. Welcome to the forum, Gary!

Happiness is Lubbock in the rear view mirror - or so I'm told. Oh Shenandoah!

Oh, Shenandoah
Happiness to see you, or
Lubbock behind us.

Okay, and that's one more place I'll never be able to visit. Great job! *pats himself on shoulder*
