Hi from Portugal

Hello,
Despite being a lover of photography and a Pentax follower from an early age, unfortunately the opportunity never came to acquire a model of the brand. However, having entered the medium format about 2 years ago with the Fuji GFX50R, I was impressed with the image quality and the potential of this type of sensor. However, despite the excellent image quality and the excellent lenses that Fuji produces, the same is not true with the camera's build quality. I also find very strange how the notorious lack of quality that the gfx50r presents, hollow type, is not addressed in forums and discussions .. besides being probably the most uninteresting camera in aesthetics terms. I know that the results will be more important, but for me, the quality and the feeling in the hands, the pleasure of shooting with a tool with a quality of construction that feels in the hands and in its handling, it´s trully important, gives me the need to keep using it. That's why I also love the Leica M, Olympus OMD.. and so on... and it's something that Fuji don't have in their cameras, period. That said, I just sold the GFX50R .. and I'm looking for the alternative, and I think it might be the time to finally purchase a Pentax, the 645z, which has a build quality and feeling immensely superior to Fuji. The only two issues that still prevent me from clicking the purchase button, is the scarce selection of lenses, and even worse, the doubt whether Pentax will continue engaged to this system and develop more lenses for the system, with new technology to live up to the excellent sensor.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum, Pentax has been involved with MF for many years now... I think you will be ok for a good while longer yet.

Welcome to the forum Nuno. I’ve never used a MF camera. But it’s really interesting to hear that you have been disappointed with the performance. Fuji fans seem to like it. Well, I guess there’s nothing wrong with going MF with Pentax. There’s still lots of stuff in the used market to choose from... and I certainly know many pros and enthusiasts still use their 645z. So let’s hope you share some photos with us soon! Greetings from Greece.
