Hi everyone

Hello everyone. I just registered in this forum and I wanna ask you guys a question. So recently I have purchased a Pentax 645z and before that I was using a canon camera. So I was wondering if you guys know any lens adapter that can adapt my canon lenses to my Pentax 645z.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum from the Highlands of Scotland, I'm not aware of an adaptor... but hey I'm expert on such matters.

Welcome to the Forums from Australia. The sensor size for the 645Z is 43.8x32.8 mm so a full frame lens which only covers 36x24 mm would probably not cover the sensor. But a bigger problem would be the registration distance. The registration distance (that is, the rear of the lens mount to the sensor) is 70.87 mm for Pentax 645 lenses but only 44 mm for Canon DSLR (or Full Frame film) lenses. That means an adapter would have to place the lens 26.87 mm inside the camera body for it to focus correctly. That is why you will not find any adapters. You could (maybe) work out a way to reverse mount a Canon lens and use it for macro work but that is out of my field of knowledge..

You'll find adapters that go from Pentax 6x7, older Hasselblad lenses, and a few others, which are designed to illuminate large focal plane image circles and have longer back-focus (flange to focal plane) distance. You can't take a short back-focus lens designed to only illuminate a 35mm file frame and get it to go the other way without an adapter with optics. The demand isn't there for this. Plus. most Canon lenses these days also require electronics to drive the aperture, and sometimes the focus motor too.

BTW I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS on the 645Z. My Canon gear collects dust because of it.
