Complete Amateur

Hi all,

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I do know I need to make a post before I can message a seller. Hoping this post will allow me that feature!

I bought a Praktica LTL on a whim about a month ago, and have discovered how captivating photography can be. I developed my first two B&W rolls a couple days ago at home, and am looking towards eventually being able to do color processing at home.

For now, please excuse the uninitiated for not knowing much of anything, but hoping to catch up with everyone else some time soon.

Welcome to the forums. If you are developing your own film at home, I would say you are well beyond the "complete amateur" stage. Anyway, you will find a lot of helpful folks here, who can provide guidance on most subjects.

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you are getting off to a good start. I sometimes feel sorry for those who have never experienced the magic of working in a darkroom developing and printing their own images.

Welcome!

It is great to hear more people are experimenting with film processing at home. Please feel free to update us on your progress, there are many here who would be willing to help.

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to develop another two rolls of B&W film later this month, and if it goes well, I would then give C41 processing a try.

I think under normal circumstances, I would be more excited to go out and shoot my roll of film, but I'm actually looking forward to developing over everything else! I suppose I just want to get the burden of uncertainty off my shoulders.

Anyways, is there a thread for photography books on this forum? I'll search for myself in a bit, but I figured I'd ask you folks in case there's any personal recommendations. Anything photography related, whether it's an introductory textbook or a collection of photographs.
