Hello From the UK!

Hello to Everyone!

I've been lingering around reading forum posts for a while now, so I thought I should finally create an account and contribute to the community.

I own three pieces of Pentax-branded gear—an early-1980s K1000 that my mother bought new, an SMC Pentax-A 50mm f/1.7 that came with that camera, and an SMC Pentax-M 80-200mm f/4.5 that I bought second-hand for about $10 a few years back. I haven't done a lot of film photography during the past decade, so I've been using this vintage glass on my micro 4/3 Panasonic G80 through a cheap-but-functional adapter.

I've been trying to "upskill" in lens cleaning in repair during the past year, so you may find me contributing to discussions in that area of the forum (or asking for help and advice, more likely!), but I also hope to share a few photos with the community at some stage!

Welcome to the forum from Lancashire. The M 80-200 is a very good lens (my travel preference on the K-1).

Living in rural Cambridgeshire at the moment. Trying to get out in the early mornings on public footpaths and photograph what I see!

Welcome from California USA!

I have been doing lens repair also. I work on mostly old Minolta Rokkor and Canon FD lenses so far, and would love to see some tutorials on Pentax lenses. I think there is a tutorial here somewhere for the SMC Pentax-A 50mm f/1.7.

My two biggest lens repair tips are to get a cheap ultrasonic cleaner and a selection of lithium greases comtaining PTFE

Wow - what a coincidence! I've been working primarily with third-party minolta and Canon FD lenses as well.

I recently lost a tiny spring from a 300mm Tokina f5.6 (Canon FD mount), so my efforts have not always been going completely smoothly...
