U.K. oldie-newbie says hi.

hi all, look fwd to meander my way through various threads mainly relating to use of pentax ist ds with Takumar and other M42 screwmount lenses.....as that's the reason I bought the pentax ist DS on eBay, my 1st ever dslr. I have various m42 lenses from my previous life in the film era when using the Pentax Spotmatic series cameras.

(Will also read threads a bit on the standard non-M42 use, digital side of the ist ds).

Those I own, favourite M42 lenses are:
super/SMC takumars 50 (incl. 1.4), 85 (1.8), 135
carl zeiss 135
tamron 28/2.8
derek gardner 135/2.8 (construction and feel is like the tamron 28 i have, which is good, smooth action and solid)

plus, less used so far:
mix of helios (50 or is it 55?), pentacon 28, prinzflex 28, Raynox 200

for macro work: I have 3 different thickness stackable pentacon M42 extension tubes totalling about 5cm extension.

Don't know if this'll work...but my Flickr photostream is here

and, a sample photo with ist ds/m42 from last night:

Cheers

Now I do!

Thanks kerrydown and all for the welcome. Great forum. And let's see if my years in cameRehab and Lensaholics Anonymous will stop me from the slippery slope this time round. I'm already thinking of getting a cheap Industar 50 pancake (10-15 STG) as a makeshift body cap/emergency lens for my ist DS-M42 adapter ring so I can fit the camera in a big coat pocket. Dohh!

(anyone got an Industar pancake for that reason on here....come on ...own up...)

...............................

ist DS; M42/Takumars; 18-50mm kit lens.
