New Member, First Pentax Camera

I am so excited. I purchased my first Pentax today. It is a K-1. It may not be the latest and greatest but that doesn’t matter to me. I’m simply thrilled to own a full-frame Pentax. I’ve been lurking, reading, and learning. Thanks for making a welcoming space for folks like me. I’m glad and grateful to be among Pentaxians.

Welcome to the Forums. Maybe not the latest and no longer the greatest but overall still an impressive piece of equipment capable of excellent photographs.

Welcome to Pentax and Pentax Forums from the South Island of Australia. I’m sure your experience with Canon and Olympus will stand you in good stead. Fortunately, Pentax ergonomics and the (usually good) menu system will help in your transition.

The K-1 is still an outstanding camera, and the silver version with matching grip looks great. Hope you have many photographic adventures with yours. Welcome.

You can also look at some old goodies , they could be reasonable priced.

Welcome DFDiss ! The K1 is a very capable camera; Like you I bought it years after it was launched, because even today, with its handy bag of tricks, is miles ahead of new shineys that are spit out to the market. What lens have you bought to adorn your new K1 ? curious to know

That (buying your first Pentax now, after doing some research) puts you in a pretty unique position. Would you mind sharing your reasons? (I guess it may be nice for everyone to hear why "new people"

get into Pentax). Personally, I'm still (and K1 really isn't that new) trying to figure out if it makes sense (for me) to get into FF Pentax after years of using APS-C (I would not change the system just to get FF)
