Hello to all Pentax lovers

Hello everyone,

I learned photography a good 10 years ago in college with a Pentax ME and since then my equipment and enthusiasm has been growing. I am from Germany (Mainz, near Frankfurt) and love the affordable options Pentax offers (if you buy stuff second hand) with all the features and compatible lenses. Currently I'm using the K5-II, but flirting with the K3-III. Besides wildlife and landscape photography, I've been focusing more and more on macro photography in the last few months. That's why the current Photo Contest finally got me to register, even though I've been regularly browsing the site, the forum and especially the lens reviews for years.

Greetings to all!

Welcome to the forums from the Fenlands of England!

The ME is a great film camera to learn with—so compact yet robust!

Enjoy the community here!

Indeed it is. And it‘s still a lot of fun to shoot with.

I have a K5, K3II and K3III.
The K5 produces the most film-like images - maybe that Sony 16MP sensor and AA filter combination?
The K3II is a huge improvement in function over the K5.
The K3III is another jump in performance.

Maybe it's a justification bias, but I think it was a very good purchase. The images from K3II to K3III may not be a big improvement, but the camera itself seems to be.

That‘s what I thought. Still waiting for an in depth review, but im sure for me it will be an eye opener compared to my K5-II.

Welcome.

I am using the K-3II and the k-1II. I'm not likely a buyer of the K-3III because I am moving to FF, but the K-3III seems to be a huge update over anything Pentax has done before. I'm not sure the in depth review is going to say anything that user reports have already said. It's a top of the line APS-C camera, perhaps the best one made by anyone.
