I am very new to photography, i found a old canon A-1 SLR at a thrift shop for 1.50$, and thats where it started, but i quickly started to drift towards digital because i'm a broke scrub and could never really afford a film photography hobby, so i found an Olympus E-420 from 2008-ish with a camera bag and two kit lenses for 60$ and off i went, i live in florida so i quickly became worried about weather and the olympus e420 has no weather resistance of any kind, an online friend mentioned the pentax K-5 and felt it would be a good place to start with a quality built weather resistant body for not a lot of money so i went and got a K-5, $150-ish dollars and 4 days later it arrived, no lens though, so i had to order a Minolta MD to pentax K mount adapter (i have a minolta SRT102, with 5 lenses, also a thrift shop find) but it's still in transit it's been weeks, i'm slowly dying inside, i am going to start sleeping with the pentax in my hand in an attempt to dream of how it'll work and stuff. until i can save up for actual pentax glass, it's pretty affordable as far as lenses go though, so it wont be that long. i will probably be in here asking people how i should set the camera up with vintage late 70's lenses (ive already discovered the sound the K-5 makes when you move it side to side is normal and good, apparently you guys here get that one a lot) anyways, glad to be here, i cant wait to use my new, old pentax K-5
Welcome to the forum and to Pentax cameras. Living in Florida should not really be much of a weather concern if you do not take photographs in a downpour and don't leave your equipment in a car all the time. I would caution you about going from air conditioned environs into humid heat with your camera. I've carried film and digital cameras for quite a few years and have had no problems with the different environments. Also never had any humidity problems while aboard ship in the Navy from the US to Europe and back, twice. Carry your camera with some respect and care, you should have no problems.
