Hello all! Reading here to see if any new info on a successor to the K-70. Have a Pentax ZX-5N film SLR that I have not used for many years since switching to digital. Had a Canon S110 for about 5 years, really nice camera for a P&S (Canon no longer makes it or its successor). But it died, most likely I think due to sand in the lens machinery. So been wanting a DSLR for a while now, iPhone is not good for long distance shots. Have a fair amount of KA/KAF lenses (full frame) so would like to be able to use those again. Looks like Pentax mirrorless has come and gone.

K-70 looks to be what I want, though I believe it came out about 5 years back. Surprised there is no successor as of yet. The other K* DSLR's are out of my price range, unless I went to the used market. I was all set to purchase then read a post here about an aperture control issue that may be endemic on the K-70. Looks like there was a big sale on the K-70 last Dec at Adorama, maybe that will come again!

I have the K-3 mk III and it is awesome.
A lower cost option may be the KP. I never owned one but a lot of users love the image quality and smaller size. You can use your full frame lenses on it just fine.
Also, since the K-3 mk III is out, you may see some well kept K-3 and K-3 mk II for sale used in the months ahead.

p.s. I'm from Austin and grew up in Georgetown. I go visit my mom and sister in Round Rock these days.

since Pentax just released the K 3 III, my guess is that any new camera will be a long time coming

Hello from Killeen! Nice to know there are some local Pentax shooters in my area . I shoot with a k3 and k5 ( I have a k s2 but it has the aperture issue and I am not sure if I want to keep it and fix or just sell , trade) . All the best

Thanks Jello! Are you current or former military? I lived in Killeen from '80-'87 while my Dad was in the Army flying helicopters.
